The only things that are wrong are the non-appearance of the /dev/nvidiactl, xorg not starting up, and the only EE lines in Xorg.0.log are these: (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module! Please ensure (EE) NVIDIA(0): that there is a supported NVIDIA GPU in this system, and (EE) NVIDIA(0): that the NVIDIA device files have been created properly. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Please consult the NVIDIA README for details. (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** You know what just occured to me? Maybe the 8600GTS isn't being caught in the pci scan. Anyone out there with a Nvidia8600GTS, could you give me your entire scanpci run? Thanks folks > >> I am running devfs. Is this the right one for current?
