Thanks for the reply Josh.. attached is output from dmesg -v, and the
output from a failed/hung "mt -f /dev/rsa0 status" command.  I did
manage to retrieve the tape after it timed out ..  Best I can recollect,
things worked with 3.4-R, but after moving to 4.3-R and 4.4-Stable,
neither this drive or my identical spare works.  Was curious about the
message during the device probe about the "ILLEGAL REQUEST ASC 24,0"
and "Invalid Field in CDB".  Thought I could try a Future Domain
controller to verify both the 2940 and the drives integrity, but see
it's not supported, period.  If you need my kernel config, I'll send it,
but is pretty generic except I reduced scsi device settle time from 15
to 5 seconds.
