You have to change the file /usr/local/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers (in fact /usr/local/share/examples/xdm/Xservers due to an other problem) to have : :0 local /usr/local/bin/X -br -ignoreABI :0 and start your xdm/gdm/kdm as you want.
