And since the kernel debugger is expected to run on the console anyway... I find it suprising that people want to use anything besides cursor keys (note: the vi ^H ^J ^K ^L *are* the cursor keys on Televideo, ADM, Adds-VP, and HZ terminals -- that's the reason they are there... they are historical legacy).
