Hi, I am posting this for a friend who does not have access as yet. He has a serial mouse that the DOS world can find on COM1 but when be loads BSD, even though the sio0-sio3 ports are enabled at the various addresses (sio0 has a irq4, sio2 is irq5 etc), at time of bootup, there are no messages that say something like port sio1 at 0X3f8 irq4 on isa or something. No such messages apparently show up for any of the sio devices but the lpt0 etc are all configured properly. As a result, when he tries to start XFree, gets a message that mouse not configured even though at Xfree set up, he specifies /dev/cuaa<n>. He would like to find out what he is doing wrong and how he can get BSD to recognise sio while probing the devices. He would really appreciate a quick response. Please send email to this address. Thanks and regards Jai Durgam
