Rushing air can be nice. The pink noise it produces masks lots of other
distracting sounds.

When I was an undergrad, I used to opt to work in the "glass house" (the
specially air conditioned computer room with raised floors and glass
windows) because of this. Needless to say, it produced a few puns 
on my last name.
