devel/py-pyro isn't dead - latest release was 2011-06-01.
New mainpage: http://irmen.home.xs4all.nl/pyro4/
Distfiles are now hosted on:
http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Pyro4
I'm interested in maintaining of this port.
