In short, any external site is inaccessible. However, ftp and http sessions on the local machine work perfectly. It is noteworthy to add that all routing and networking is working perfectly in all other cases. In fact, machines on an intranet network interface card easily access the Internet via natd over a second network interface card. Also, all applications running locally can easily access the Intranet and the Internet over their respective NIC adapters. It is only StarOffice, running locally, that fails with non-local connections. A tcpdump on the external (Internet) interface shows a normal TCP/IP session establishment, but no further traffic flows. If the "Stop" icon is clicked after some arbitrary time, a normal TCP/IP close session is completed. Between session establishment and session closure no packets flow over the connection. 20:39:57.393305 ns1.the-frontier.org.4994 > www.sun.com.http: S 1489777480:1489777480(0) win 16384 (DF) 20:39:57.455764 www.sun.com.http > ns1.the-frontier.org.4994: S 422400000:422400000(0) ack 1489777481 win 64240 20:39:57.456123 ns1.the-frontier.org.4994 > www.sun.com.http: . ack 1 win 17520 (DF) 20:40:27.514122 www.sun.com.http > ns1.the-frontier.org.4994: F 1:1(0) ack 1 win 64240 20:40:27.514401 ns1.the-frontier.org.4994 > www.sun.com.http: . ack 2 win 17520 (DF) 20:40:52.074997 ns1.the-frontier.org.4994 > www.sun.com.http: F 1:1(0) ack 2 win 17520 (DF) 20:40:52.137481 www.sun.com.http > ns1.the-frontier.org.4994: . ack 2 win 64240 >How-To-Repeat: Install StarOffice52. start tcpdump on Internet NIC adapter Pull down Help menu and select Registration...
