I can't speak for the KDE team, but the GNOME team always welcomes
people who can submit artwork. Every GNOME release, we pick a splash
screen submitted by our users and make it the default one for FreeBSD.

As for your picture, which font did you use? And also, I have some
suggestions for other taglines for that image:
"Please stop flaming us"
"Note: do not light distro CDs on fire"
"FIRE BAD! -James Hetfield"
"Do you smell something?"
"Mmmm... roast daemon"
