Hi all,

at work, we use Solaris and we've got a customized installation of
Emacs in some strange path.  The equivalent of
/usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp contains quite a few files.

How does one merge such customizations with the installation of a port
in FreeBSD?

I thought it would be easiest to just use
/usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp, but then it occurred to me that I
might install some port which depends on psgml-emacs20, thus going to
the directory then `make install' is going to clobber my site-lisp
directory, which is no good.

What do you guys do in a similar situation?  Of course, similar
thoughts apply to other software package, so don't let my mention of
Emacs throw you.
