Hum, ok, that's (almost) a good reason 0:-) You really need to have a release to get a github tarball, all you need is the hash of the commit you want to get. I have a lot of local ports coming from github that have the date and time as PORTVERSION and only need the hash of the commit, a bit like : PORTNAME= vim-puppet PORTVERSION= 2013102117 ... USE_GITHUB= yes GH_ACCOUNT= rodjek GH_COMMIT= 4e78429 GH_TAGNAME= ${GH_COMMIT} But it's easier to get it all at once with a git checkout, I get it :-) -- Mathieu Arnold
