I am running the x11-servers/XFree86-4-Server-snap port (4.3.99.15)
and it supports DRM/DRI with a a generic taiwanese radeon 9200. I
have a vague memory that the 9700 support is not there in XFree86 yet
(I just bought the card in December, and at that point I researched
it).
