Strange. My sound is working like a charm. Clean as a whistle. I had to download the ich.c device driver and register it with kernel sources before recompiling, but I now have sound. What I suggest you do is install the kernel source code (with sysinstall or CVS) and hack around a bit with the sound device drivers. Just toy around there and see what you can come up with. There's a lot of info in the manual pages which can guide you through the process and allow you to get your bearings. One thing I like about 4.3-R is that it introduced some sound modules in /modules that allow you to test out various configurations before going through the longer kernel recompilation process. Do you really need sound? You could always have a Windows machine with your web browser and audio software, sitting next to your FreeBSD machine. You could even dual boot Windows+FreeBSD and swith between them as necessary (there is documentation on the Net that tells you how to do this). xmms is a cool mp3 player; freeamp is kinda neat also. ===== I was wondering if theirs any peepz that have setup their soundcard cus it's kickin my ass ;/ i have setup speakers in the kernel MAKEDEV them and then did a MAKEDEV to pcaudio i know theirs more to it but from everything i been reading that's all it tells you(i'm reading from the book) anyways i'm running 4.2rel well thanks for anyhelp you may give(1331 soundblaster which is supported) ===== -- This message has been sent via an anonymous mail relay at www.no-id.com.
