portsdb -U ends up running a lot of very short-lived processes which
don't exist long enough to accumulate enough CPU to show up in top.
Watch the "last pid" number and you should see it increment between 100
and 500 per second.  If you have process accounting enabled you can run
"lastcomm" to see the commands themselves.
