Try:

:set nolist
:help 'nolist'

> vim (insert mode):

> up cursor    =3D A + enter
> left cursor  =3D D + enter
> right cursor =3D C + enter
> down cursor  =3D B + enter

This is a terminal problem.  Try with different TERM values.
