The positive side is that you do not need to reboot when a disk fails, vinum keeps reading from the other disk. You will a reboot when installing a new disk I believe. Apart from that I *think* you can use rdist (man rdist(1)) if you want to do it 'manually'. /Micke PS. If going the vinum way, read what to do when having to replace a faulty disk.
