Now my problem I guess goes beyond my initial
description - first I tried a cvsup of 3.3, then 3.1,
then 3 stable - then I went back and installed from my
cdroms 2.2.8 - I couldn't make world with any of them.
Following your message I re-cvsuped 3-stable
and tried following the instructions
at http://www.ucb.crimea.ua/~ru/FreeBSD/30upgrade.html
which I got off via a FreeBSD questions BBS.
That didn't work either. All my trials error after
about 300K.
Now I've done so many make clean's, make upgrades,
and make world's that I'm I wonder if I'm beyond help!

What I now wonder is: where do I go from here?
