If it only reads the floppies for a couple of seconds, you don't have
a good boot floppy. It takes a long time (relatively speaking) to boot
from a floppy. Make sure you can format the floppy without error and
try fdimage'ing again. You may also have a bad download when you
downloaded the kern.flp. There are multiple choices but only the right
one works.
