Hi!

Why don't you just dd your *.img directly to USB drive?
Get  http://www.chrysocome.net/dd (if you're using windows) and do something like "dd.exe if=memstick.img of=\\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition0 bs=2M". But be careful and see the examples on the site above.
