Without looking at the carp code, I can tell you that its addressing hook is implemented as a pass-through in ether_input(). carps are not IFT_ETHER, therefore they shouldn't emit gratuitous ARP or otherwise when an address is configured on one. So I'll leave this up to someone who knows the carp code, as this is most likely where the ARP originated from. cheers BMS
