Thanks for notifying us.  Hints work in either /boot/device.hints or 
/boot/loader.conf, and the syntax is exactly the same.  Since 
device.hints is overwritten as part of the instructions in UPDATING for 
installing a new kernel, I think it's better to keep local changes in 
loader.conf.
