Sender: owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I went ahead and created a port for the Microsoft NetShow player for Linux. If you track ports with CVSup or cvs, it should soon be appearing as /usr/ports/graphics/netshow. I did this because of the reports that , e.g. you have to run `brandelf' on the binary -- the port will do this automatically. Someone earlier reported that NetShow for Linux doesn't recognize .AVI's, even though Microsoft's webpage says it does. I too am seeing this same problem (under 2.2.6-RELEASE... I will soon have a CURRENT system to test it on as well). I strongly doubt it, but this could be a result of the fact that the binary is not running on a "true" Linux system -- Does anyone have a Linux box that they can test on, to confirm or deny this (admittedly a long-shot) hypothesis? However, I did try this with an .ASF (the streaming protocol format), and it worked beautifully! If you want to give it a shot yourself, try this URL: http://206.204.30.102/Netshow/Lost/INT_GO56.asf Anyway, enjoy the port! --- Donald Burr - Ask me for my PGP key | PGP: Your WWW HomePage: http://DonaldBurr.base.org/ ICQ #1347455 | right to Address: P.O.
