Well, every quarter, we branch the head of the ports tree, on that branch, we only commit security/build/run fixes and we try to have as few updates as we can on it, and we support it until the next querterly branch is branched from head. We publish the packages from the current branch in the "quarterly" directory. -- Mathieu Arnold
