The problem can be reproduced in two different networks with different machines. I'm not sure if this really is a problem with Gnome, nss_ldap or FreeBSD's implementation of nsswitch as there have been reports of problems with other ports and nss_ldap too: linux_base-8, php4-extensions, KDE... Is anybody else using Gnome with a ldap-based setup and can confirm this problem? Thank you! Uwe
