In my concern this is hidding a bug under the carpet not fixing it, FYI the=
 bug
has been fixed on amd64, still being working on for i386.

imho this shouldn't be committed unless we have an upstream approval that t=
his
is actually the fix (which I'm not sure of) no offense to the submitter.

The fact that it now works with clang on amd64 proves (imho) that the curre=
nt
code should be working, and that is fix isn't a real fix.
