Just as a heads-up, Joel Diaz <joeldiaz@mac.com> has been working with
FAM a lot lately, and has kqueue mostly working with it.  His plan is to
send this upstream to SGI once it's ready.  You might want to get with
him if you have any ideas on changes to avoid duplicating effort.
