I have an ATAPI changer that does ok with FreeBSD.  There are some
problems with it (or the driver) forgetting to switch the right disk
under the head if the disks get hit just right (for example: disk 0 then
disk 1, then disk 0 again, before the switch to disk 1 is finished).

As for SCSI, I've seen several CD-ROMs that don't play well with other
devices, but they do ok if they are on their own channel (or just with
other similar devices, but not hard disks).
