 Tried your recommendation -- deinstall/reinstall py-gtk2 and
py-gnome2. No joy. You remarked that this might be due to
some misconfiguration on my machine, but this difficulty began
when I updated the python release and occurs on 2 machines that
are by no means identically configured. Of possible interest is
that a pkg_add -r gramps results in an unrunnable download of
the "binaries" for gramps -- can't reproduce the error because I can't
download the pkg for some reason today, but it implies the same lack of
 python bindings.
