Hello, I was a FreeBSD user, then Linux (including Ubuntu), and now back to FreeBSD again. I've seen what everyone else has to offer, and I understand your frustratio= ns. The handbook is always the first place to look. They continue to increase their FreeBSD desktop coverage all the time. http://www.freebsddiary.org is a site of someone who puts up information for everything they have to do to get FreeBSD working. It might be similar to what you have in mind.
