I have a Pentium 200 MMX w/ 64meg and two EIDE drives. The first drive is 1.6 meg and has Win95 on it. The second drive is 3.5 = meg and has nothing on it. My plan is to install FreeBSD on the second = drive and use my BIOS to boot to that drive. Installation proceeds well, = computer reboots, and the kernal starts then lists the drivers but at = the very end the system says "panic: cannot mount root". Problem may be = disk geometry. Drive is 7237 cyls 15 heads 63 sectors. BIOS reads the = drive as 848 cyls 128 heads 63 sectors. I have tried having a DOS = partition on the drive as well as keeping the partitions below 1024 = cyls. What am I missing? Any ideas would be appreciated!=20 Thanks in advance, Ken Nightingale k_nightingale@psnw.com ------=_NextPart_000_0004_01BD4FBA.622EFD80 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=3Dtext/html;charset=3Diso-8859-1 = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D'"MSHTML 4.72.2106.6"' name=3DGENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>I am having trouble installing = FreeBSD 2.2.5 on=20 my computer.<BR>I have a Pentium 200 MMX w/ 64meg and two EIDE = drives.<BR>The=20 first drive is 1.6 meg and has Win95 on it.
