As far as the monitor goes, in xf86config when it asks you to describe your monitor it gives you the option of entering your own range. Choose that option and enter the Hor. and Vert. sync ranges for your monitor. T= he monitor's manual should have this info, if not, go to Philip's site. Go to www.xfree86.org to see if the version of X you are running has support for your Video card.
