There's something similar in the ports collection :
/usr/ports/net/ssltunnel-server
/usr/ports/net/ssltunnel-client

It's been written by A. Thivillon from HSC (http://www.hsc.fr), actual
setup uses pppd(8) and thus may lead to instabilities, but It can use
ppp(8).

Maybe It could be used as a starting point.
