Luigi Rizzo <luigi@labinfo.iet.unipi.it> has taken the lead for the
next generation sound driver. His latest driver is at:
http://www.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/snd970731.tgz 

Also if you are interested in the latest vanilla sound driver 3.5 is at:
ftp://rah.star-gate.com/pub/guspnp14.tar.gz

That driver should work with your awe.
