Well...FreeBSD will not run on this particular beast.  I have NetBSD
(http://www.netbsd.org/)  running on my Apollo 400dl.  I netboot is using
FreeBSD, and a combo of rbootd, rarpd, bootparams, and nfs.  Let me know
if you need any help with this.
