I disabled the ICH8 controller entirely in the BIOS, and booted with a 6.1-RELEASE kernel. The box still hangs up with atapicam loaded and I can't read files from a udf-mounted DVD with or without atapicam. I'm also copying another user on this since he's having similar problems with the Asus P5B Deluxe. I was able to mount a CD disc and copy files, but I do get the same error for larger files on a couple of CDs. I am using a custom kernel config, but with only a few additions from GENERIC/SMP. And the same problem occurs with the GENERIC/SMP kernels.
