I've just been offered an interesting looking scanner
(http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,352235,00.html).
The trouble is, the damn thing is only available with a parallel port
interface. Can anybody answer the following questions:

1. Is there anything like a "standard" for parallel port scanners?

2. Do we support them? In this case, it's the Plustek OpticPro
    9636T.

3. This scanner claims 1200dpi × 600dpi × 36 bits, which makes a
total of 3.2 MB/sq in. On a full sheet of paper, that's about 300
MB. What kind of compression do they use?

4. Does anybody know this particular scanner?

Greg
