The same (or quite) happened to me, try this:
(from /etc/XF86Config)
# **********************************************************************
# Core Pointer's InputDevice section
# **********************************************************************
Section "InputDevice"
# Identifier and driver
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/sysmouse"
Option "Buttons" "5" #this one only if you have more than 3 buttons (I have two wheels too)
and
(from /etc/rc.conf)
moused_port="/dev/psm0"
moused_type="auto"
moused_enable="YES"
moused_flags="-z 4" # #this one only if you have more than 3 buttons (I have two wheels too)
