Hi Roger,

taken from http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/eresources.html#ERESOURCES-MAIL
what mailinglist is for what:

freebsd-security                      Security issues
freebsd-security-notifications        Security notifications

Conclusion: 
If you only want the notifications that there is a bug subscribe to
security-notifications. 
If you want to see comments made to security issues or new issues brought up
subscribe to security.
