I don't have either the A21P or the Dell i8000 so I can't tell but from people who actually have contacts with the engineering at both Dell and IBM through the ThinkPad mailing lists and even www.thinkpads.com, the 1600x1200 is UXGA and developed by IBM. Toshiba may have licensed the techology and built panels as well. I only have a IBM ThinkPad 770Z 13.7" 1280x1024 and this one is indeed IBM. I remember several magazines such as MaximumPC and Cadence when they did reviews on the IBM ThinkPad A21P HXU/HSU models and the Dell Inspiron 8000, it did say the screen is 15" UltraXGA and is licensed to Dell from IBM...
