The solution is to move the recode.so to the top of the extensions.ini file >How-To-Repeat: Install Apache 2.2 and php5-extensions from ports and choose pretty much everything including the recode option. >Fix: I read on the net in an old post that recode.so conflicts with some of the other extensions.
