My name server is a cache only name server. There are two machine on the local network. I put their names and ips in /etc/hosts and modified /etc/host.conf to refer to /etc/hosts before the nameserver. I do not see why it has a problem resolving the hostname unless it is not looking in /etc/hosts. Also, if the hostname is set to "pseudo." then sendmail does not report this message. Can the cache of the name server be augmented to include the local hostnames?
