I checked securelevel, and they are both running the same ... rwhod generates no errors when I try to run it, and truss doesn't show anything since it does a fork: stat("/etc/nsswitch.conf",{mode=-rw-r--r-- ,inode=24857,size=113,blksize=4096}) = 0 (0x0) open("/etc/group",O_RDONLY,0666) = 3 (0x3) fstat(3,{mode=-rw-r--r-- ,inode=24775,size=441,blksize=4096}) = 0 (0x0) lseek(3,0x0,SEEK_CUR) = 0 (0x0) lseek(3,0x0,SEEK_SET) = 0 (0x0) read(3,"# $FreeBSD: src/etc/group,v 1.32"...,4096) = 441 (0x1b9) close(3) = 0 (0x0) sigaction(SIGHUP,{ SIG_IGN 0x0 ss_t },{ SIG_DFL SA_RESTART ss_t }) = 0 (0x0) fork() = 90418 (0x16132) exit(0x0) process exit, rval = 0 So, I'm not 100% certain what I'm looking for ... The network looks good, I can connected to the jails running on it, and, syslog runs in the jails themselves, just not the physical server ... If I try syslogd from the command line, it generates an error: # /usr/sbin/syslogd -s syslogd: child pid 90996 exited with return code 1 I'm not out of disk space on any of the file systems ... So, not sure what else I should be looking for here ... Help? - ---- Marc G.
