Other than that, I understand that the internal mechanisms are pretty much the same now, so raw bit rate favors IDE slightly. (Which would make sense, IDE not having to deal with the complexity of multiple concurrent requests.) So, if you're not using RAID, it seems reasonable to buy the cheaper drives.
