I'd like to be able to use FreeBSD 2.2.6 on my Toshiba Satellite 105CS
computer. I tried 2.2.5, but unfortunately several things did not work on
it, so I have had to switch to Linux (which DOES work fine). Maybe 2.2.6
can solve these problems?

(1) I would like to be able to use the Fn-keys combinations to change
things. (for example, Fn-F2 to cycle through my varous power-saving
modes, or Fn-F4 to change my sound volume.) Under 2.2.5, the Fn-keys
would work *ONCE* per reboot, and then would not work any more. (A reboot
was required.) Under Linux, the Fn-key sequences work properly all the
time.

(2) I have my BIOS set to automatically power down the LCD screen after 1
minute of inactivity. This has saved me a LOT of battery life. NOrmally
(i.e. under Windows or Linux), if I hit a key or move the mouse, the screen
will come back on. But, under FreeBSD, the screen remains off, and I am
unable to use the computer. The computer still works, though, because if
I type "reboot" (I have to type it "blindly", because the screen is not
on) the system will reboot and the display will turn back on. Under
Linux, the screen works prpoerly, however.

(3) When I typed "halt" or "shutdown -h" in Linux, it automatically turned
my laptop's power OFF after it did its shutdown thing. Is there any way
to get FreeBSD to do this?

These are the only major issues holding me back from dumping Linux and
installing FreeBSD instead. So, is there any hope? TIA for your help!
