hi, all - i have a dell latitude laptop which has run freebsd most of its life (well, after i finished myst, anyway 8-)) the sad story (probly irrelevant): i think i broke the boot blocks on the hard disk i have tried to resurrect it repeatedly in several ways i can get a very old windows 3.1 to run on it (because i have a gateway laptop also, and used their boot disk and an old w3.1 floppy disk set) when i try to boot it from the hard disk, it goes through some of the usual bootup procedure, then stops with 'read error' when i try to use the freebsd 2.2.7 or 2.2.5 boot floppy, it allows me to do the setup configuration, then fails with 'panic: page fault' ? more later, cal@aero.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
