You do not have XF86_VGA16 , which is the 16-color VGA server.
Make sure you XF86Config file is in /etc ( that is the file that is
generated from xf86config )

The XF86_SVGA might work for you. 
Then again ...
What kind of video card do you have, and what kind did you specify in
xf86config?
