Could we remove the old a2ps 4.3 port ? Many people read the version number of the newer a2ps "4.13" port as "4.1.3" and come to the wrong conclusion, that they have to install a2ps 4.3 to have the latest and greatest for apsfilter. In fact a2ps 4.3 is quite old and has a different syntax. a2ps 4.3 doesn't work with apsfilter, apsfilter needs/supports only the newer commandline flags of a2ps 4.13. In the last month I know of about 10 issues on my apsfilter mailinglists. One apsfilter customer was really pissed off, since he spend much time trying to fix apsfilter. People are driven mad, since printing of the test page works and then after installation they are not able to print a simple ASCII file. I expect, that most people don't complain on mailinglists and simply quietly discard apsfilter and try cups, magicfilter or whatever. If you do not want to remove the a2ps43 port, then we should at least try to think, what can be done, so that people don't trap into that failure. a) rename a2ps43 into something more reasonable concerning this situation, i.e. a2ps43-old or b) state it out clearly in pkg-comment and pkg-descr in the hope that people at least read this ...
