Note that the 39160 is a dual bus controller, and it even has > a separate Ultra-2 50 pin I/F for my cdrom :-) ^^^ not quite, it is an ultra, not ultra2, but you don't want ultra2 for the CDROM anyways. However, be aware that you DO NOT get an ultra-wide bus on the 39160, which you do get on the 29160. This is important if you have any ultra-wide (ie non-ultra2-wide) drives, as when you mix the 2 on the same bus the ultra2-wide devices slow down to ultra speed (80 vs. 40 MB/sec) Also be aware that the [123]9160 series is ultra160 compatable, if you don't have u160 drives 2940u2w might be more cost effective. the cam code does not yet run these cards @ 160MB, no drives have yet surfaced for testing... As to one 39160 for 2 SCSI busses, I am shopping for 2 29160s to be able to maximize the PCI bus transfer rate across 2 different PCI busses. If your mb only has one PCI bus this isn't a consideration. -- Steve Passe | powered by smp@csn.net | Symmetric MultiProcessor FreeBSD To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message
