That is to say, that though for a particular build of current, the machine will either reboot cleanly or hang at "uptime" (consistently if I don't change the OS version), but rebuilding the system may cause the behaviour to switch. I have not been following the commit logs too closely, but I haven't noticed anything that (to my poor eyes) would obviously cause such a change, for any of the switches in behaviour. I am not sure, but I think that the fluctuating behaviour has been present for around a year. For reference, the pccard is: sio4: <IBM 56K Data-Fax Modem> at port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 11 function 0 config 32 o n pccard0 sio4: type 16550A sio4: [GIANT-LOCKED] sio4: unable to activate interrupt in fast mode - using normal mode I am the only user of this laptop, so it is available for tetsting when I'm not thrashing the CPU for work. -Ben Kaduk
