Hello, First here are a few details of the server: FreeBSD hawk.321host-it.com 4.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.1-RELEASE #0: Wed Sep 13 00:57:28 GMT 2000 admin@hawk.321host-it.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/CUSTOM i386 Here's an example of the apache server-logfile: [Fri Oct 13 18:06:28 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:29 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:32 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:32 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:34 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:37 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:39 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname [Fri Oct 13 18:06:39 2000] [error] (54)Connection reset by peer: getsockname As you can see these errors occur very OFTEN and I really have to assume that they're caused by FreeBSD and not by apache since they're still occuring with the brand new Apache 1.3.14 version. Well these errors cause the server to be virtually dead. I can't get in via SSH anymore and the webserver itself is also dead. This can take up to 2 hours (I let it run without locally rebooting it once to see if it's continuing to work normally again) and then it works well again. The webserver itself is a standard webserver and has no extra modules like php etc installed. This is also the only error I can find after those crashes ... /var/log/messages and dmesg don't show anything. I hope somebody of you guys knows a solution to this problem because this is getting ridiculous slowly but surely since the server's down everyday for 30 minutes because of this. If you need more information please tell me. Thanks in advance, Gernot To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
